How to understand the language of cats

He who spends a lot of time with his beloved cat friend gradually wants to be able to interpret cat language. Above all, a distinction must be made between the verbal and nonverbal expression of our tiger. The latter is actually body language, which takes place mainly through various movements of the tail. Sometimes it is not far from the truth that the cat points to almost every such communication to the fact that it would like to get something to eat. But jokes aside. In the following points, we will introduce you to some typical features of cat communication.

What do the different positions of the cat's tail mean?

If the cat holds the tail upright and only bends the tip lightly, the owner can congratulate himself, as the cat shows him that he is feeling well. So you are both great friends and the animal is happy.
Conversely, if a cat taps its nerve nervously on the ground, it feels pain due to certain circumstances and a visit to the vet could be appropriate. Now to the other indicators to which you can attach importance:

- Conversely, if a cat taps its nerve nervously on the ground, it may feel pain under certain circumstances and a visit to the veterinarian could be appropriate. Now to the other indicators to which you can attach importance:
- If your pet twitches its tail from time to time, it may again be a sign of nervousness.
- If a cat has tingling hair on its tail, it means that it is either significantly upset or that it feels threatened. With this gesture, your hairy darling wants to make himself bigger than he really is, so that the juice can retreat on its own.
- If your cat vibrates slightly your tail, then it means that it is upset in a positive sense or that it is expecting something, for example - who would say that - a mash. Or a cat can simply enjoy seeing you just because you give it treats.
- If the cat puts the front part of the body and pushes the back half, including the tail, on the contrary, it is a sign of extreme aggression and a strongly defensive, protective position. You can calm the animal by petting it, but keep in mind that the cat will start to be stimulated the moment you pet it for a long time in one place.
- If your cat holds the tail at an acute angle, ie about 45 degrees, while deviating from the rest of the body, it is a sign of mild aggression or a sign that it is frightened. The cat usually quickly evaluates whether a friend or foe is approaching.
By waving his tail behind his back, the cat tests to see if the enemy is behind her.
- If a cat falls to the ground with its tail, it is also an indication that it is frightened - or that it feels guilty for something.
- If an animal pulls a tail between its paws, it is afraid of something or someone - whether the fear is justified or not. It is an indicator of uncertainty and even slight subordination. However, it can also indicate a sense of guilt, because the cat has done something that it knows the master will not agree with.
- If a cat moves its tail from side to side, it is probably angry. However, it can also be an incentive to play. The circumstances that precede the movement determine which of the two options is involved.

If the cat is not in the mood, just leave it alone until it is in a good mood again. If, on the other hand, you want to play, you can confiscate it with toys designed for cats, such as a fishing rod or mouse.
According to experts, it is optimal when you spend a quarter or a third of the day playing with a cat. If a cat spends most of its time just sleeping and eating, it will most likely be underexpressed and therefore not happy.
However, there are also cats whose owners are very busy or cannot devote as much time to them due to other duties, and yet the cat is doing very well. If the animal has a paddock and can follow its instincts by hunting in the "wilderness", then it has enough enjoyment without you devoting most of the day to it.

What do the eyes and ears of a cat say?

Pricked ears facing forward in combination with wide-open eyes indicate that the cat is hunting or preparing to play. If the ears point forward and the cat's eyes are half closed, it means that the cat is satisfied and resting. If a cat has its eyes wide open and its ears pressed to its head at the same time, it expresses fear or intent to attack.

What do the sounds that a cat makes?

Cats are able to make up to 100 different sounds. We divide these between the sounds of agitation, calling and calm. Verbal communication is connected with body language. There are often appeals to the licking of sounds against someone who has something specific to do.
Kittens make noises when they want to contact their mother. Mother cats also use sounds when raising young. For example, it alerts young people to potential dangers. Through the so-called call to prey, the mother warns the young that she has received the catch. This sound gains in intensity the bigger or more dangerous the prey.

From this vocal expression is then derived the sound that cats sometimes make when they hold a favorite toy between their paws or when they bring "their" human caught a mouse. It is a speech by which a cat asks for praise from the person to whom it brought a "gift". In this case, the mouse is an expression of affection and also a boast, the cat says, "Look how hunter I am." You will make your tiger very happy to praise him after the hunting performance.
A typical meow uses a cat either as a greeting or as an expression of a wish that is directed at a human. He has something to do, something the cat hopes for, such as stroking, handing over, playing or cuddling.
